Acupuncture is an extremely powerful medicine to effect change. It also works preventively, to keep people healthy. You don’t have to have something “wrong”to check in with your acupuncturist and get a tune up! In fact, it’s a great idea to do that seasonally anyway, to keep your immune system functioning well, to prevent illness from developing, and to help your body adapt to changing climatic factors.
What is acupuncture good for?
In a nutshell, everything! All illness, whether physical or mental/emotional, stems from bioelectrical energy (Qi) and blood not circulating properly, either because it is blocked, excessive, or deficient.
An acupuncturist is highly trained to recognize patterns of symptoms and disease in patients. This makes them uniquely qualified to form a holistic diagnosis based on Traditional Chinese Medicine, and to form a treatment plan accordingly.
Patients should be prepared to give 3-5 treatments before noticing improvement, although one often feels a discernible shift after one or two.
